Horse Party

I — The brief
A garden lunch, low to the ground. The horses arrive as a colour and a texture long before they arrive as a motif.
Leia was turning six and loved horses. Rather than a stable full of props, we designed a lunch inside a barn in Langley — a whitewashed table set low, linen floor cushions instead of chairs, and a palette lifted from the paddock: blush, mushroom, oat, kraft and one green. The horses appear as pattern, leather and small collected objects on the table, never as decoration applied on top.
Blush · Mushroom · Oat · Kraft · Paddock

IV — The details
Main-table tablescape / place settings- 01
- Tablescape
- A ten-inch-high table dressed the length of the lawn, with a running centre of grasses, garden flowers and small hay bales so the arrangement never reads as a florist's line.
- 02
- Place setting
- Galloping-horse paper over kraft felt, a leather horseshoe left at each seat, and a single iced horse biscuit as the only figurative element on the table.
